SNACK IDEAS FOR BABIES (9 MONTHS AND OLDER)

This is a list of snacks for older babies that have already been eating purees for some time and are ready for some finger food. When introducing a new food to your baby, make sure to offer it for at least four days, preferably for a week, to test for allergies to that food. Don't introduce any other new foods during that time; otherwise, you won't be able to determine how your baby reacts to a particular food, and pinpoint the source of allergic reaction if such reaction occurs.

  • Small dices of ripe bananas
  • Small pieces of avocado
  • Squished blueberries
  • Small dices of soft steamed carrots (make sure to let any cooked food to cool down before giving it to baby)
  • Small pieces of ripe pears
  • Small pieces of soft steamed apple
  • Soft steamed peas cut in half
  • Small pieces (1/4 - 1/3 of an inch) of soft cooked potatoes
  • Small bits of soft steamed green beans
  • Banana-avocado puree (very nutritious and yummy!)
  • Infant cereal mixed with apple sauce (or any other fruit puree)

As your baby gets older, and more foods and food groups have been introduced, you can start giving small pieces of table foods, as long as they are well cooked and soft. Avoid foods that can cause choking, such as grapes, hot dogs, raw vegetables, etc.
